Product description
The MINT LAMA Freebreath Flat Lens Snorkel Mask offers a new and comfortable way of snorkeling. As the original full face snorkel mask from Switzerland, it was developed to combine natural breathing with clear underwater visibility.
Thanks to the innovative full face design, you can breathe comfortably through your nose or mouth while snorkeling and at the same time explore the underwater world with a wide field of view. The mask was developed for high comfort, safety and clear underwater visibility.
Advantages of the Freebreath Flat Lens Snorkel Mask
The flat lens with a 180° viewing angle provides a wide panoramic view underwater. This allows you to clearly see your surroundings and discover the underwater world in full detail.
The integrated three air channel system allows natural breathing through the nose or mouth. At the same time, the special ventilation system ensures that the viewing lens fogs up less and maintains clear visibility.
A practical sports camera mount allows you to easily capture your underwater adventures. Flexible and adjustable textile straps make it easier to put on and take off the mask and prevent uncomfortable pulling of the hair.
The Dry Top system also reduces water entering through the snorkel tube and ensures safe and comfortable use.
Construction of the Freebreath Flat Lens Snorkel Mask
The MINT LAMA Freebreath Snorkel Mask features an advanced three air channel system. Fresh air and exhaled air are separated from each other. The central channel directs fresh air into the viewing area, while side channels guide exhaled air outward. This ensures a constant supply of oxygen.
The integrated Dry Top system ensures that the valve closes automatically when the mask is submerged. A plastic ball seals the snorkel tube underwater and prevents water from entering. At the surface the valve opens again and allows normal air circulation.
The mask is also designed with hygiene in mind. Since no mouthpiece is required, it is more comfortable to use. A valve at the lower part of the mask allows water that has entered to be easily drained.
The shatter resistant polycarbonate lens provides high durability, while the colored snorkel tip improves visibility in the water.
Differences between round lens and flat lens snorkel masks
Round lens and flat lens snorkel masks mainly differ in the design of the viewing lens and the perception underwater.
The round lens mask features a curved lens that provides an edge free viewing angle and a more natural perspective. However, the curvature may cause slight image distortion known as the magnifying effect.
The flat lens mask reduces this distortion and offers a more realistic and clearer view, especially when looking straight ahead. However, the view may be slightly influenced by two side edges.
Which option is better suited depends on personal preference and individual visual comfort while snorkeling.

When diving, breathing underwater with a snorkel is often perceived as a nuisance because breathing through the mouth is not natural and the mouthpiece is perceived as too large, uncomfortable and unhygienic. Thanks to the MINT LAMA Freebreath, a snorkel with mouthpiece is not necessary. Simply put on the mask and breathe in and out comfortably through your nose or mouth.
What is the difference between the round glass and flat glass snorkelling masks?
Viewing the underwater world at a 180° angle is simply unique and both snorkelling masks offer this. The round glass mask has no edges in the field of vision. This enables an even better underwater view than with the flat glass mask. However, the image is partially distorted with the round glass. The curvature of the disc creates a kind of magnifying glass effect. This effect is comparable to that of a sports camera, such as the GoPro. If the camera is held very close to an object, the object enlarges and the background becomes smaller. This distortion can take some getting used to for some swimmers. With flat glass, there is little or no distortion, comparable to conventional masks. However, the view is slightly affected by two lateral edges. If you are still wondering whether flat or round glass: experience shows that people who have been snorkelling with a conventional mask for decades tend to prefer the flat glass mask. The distortion can sometimes be a nuisance for older people. The younger generation, who are used to the distortion of sports cameras, do not find this disturbing. The round glass mask is still the clear favourite.
Can I also dive with the MINT LAMA Freebreath snorkelling mask?
No. Apnoea diving is not recommended with these diving goggles. The air volume in the mask plays a greater role than with classic masks. After just a few metres of depth, the pressure in the face is perceived as uncomfortable. Pressure equalisation is very important when diving, but this is not possible with this mask as the nose is not freely accessible. Our MINT LAMA Freebreath - BALANCE and 2BREATH models do, however.
Why can a lens tarnish despite anti-fog protection?
As a rule, the MINT LAMA Freebreath snorkelling mask does not fog up because it has anti-fog protection thanks to a double airflow system, just like a ventilation unit. The mask should be put on so that the mouth section (silicone) lies close to the bridge of the nose. The air should not penetrate from the lower mouthpiece into the upper visor. Choosing the right mask size plays an important role here. It may help to wash the inside of the lens with washing-up liquid.
How do I choose the right size?
To get the most out of your MINT LAMA Freebreath snorkelling mask, it is important to choose the right size. If the snorkelling mask is too small, wearing comfort will be restricted. If it is too big, water can get in. The snorkelling mask is available in two sizes for adults. These sizes cover approx. 95% of all male and female face shapes. However, every face is different and the information should only be used as a guide.
Size S/M: mainly for women and teenagers
Size L/XL: mainly for men
A good guide to choosing the size is the distance between the eyes and chin:
S/M and L/XL
The MINT LAMA Freebreath mask is also available for CHILDREN in size XS. It is very difficult to say exactly what age the mask is suitable for, as children can vary greatly in size. In principle, children from the age of 5 can wear the mask.
A good guide to choosing the size is the distance between the eyes and chin:
XS
Can I wear the MINT LAMA Freebreath snorkelling mask with a full beard?
A short beard (e.g. 3-5 days beard) is not a problem, but with a full beard the mask cannot adhere to the face and there is a possibility that water will penetrate. We advise against buying the mask if you have a full beard.
How do I clean the MINT LAMA Freebreath snorkelling mask?
Remove the snorkel and, as with conventional snorkelling masks, rinse well with tap water after use. Store in a shady place.
